Storytime Ink Project

I initially joined Model Mayhem in June of 2007 primarily as a means of networking with models & photographers in an effort to improve my portraiture skills.  I did not count on MM being quite so addictive, however.

Since signing up I've had the pleasure of working with and alongside some of the Chicagoland area's finest models & photographers.  I've initiated several projects, including but not limited to Batter Up!, MOODS, SPLASH, and Holiday Hunnies projects, as well as shooting some more conventional portfolio work. 

With my Storytime Ink-Words n Pictures project, however, I seem to be breaking new ground.  The response from the Model community on MM has been tremendous so far and continues to increase.  At the time I wrote this bio I have completed 2 SI sessions, have five more scheduled and am in negotiations with 10 additional models.  It occurred to me that a separate profile dedicated to showcasing this project might be in order.

Project Description

With Storytime I am setting myself up as a tattoo biographer, so to speak.  The idea is to document Interesting & Unique skin art in both words and pictures.  I intend to capture the beauty of your artwork & share the back story with those as fascinated with this art form as I am.

Note:  Until further notice, I will be conducting all Storytime sessions at my models' location.  I am looking into the possibility of renting studio space on a monthly basis to conduct multiple sessions, but so far - well, I'll just say negotiations are ongoing.  For now, I intend to continue as I have begun, saving my models the time, hassle, & expense of traveling to me.   

Who I'm Looking For

I am in need of models who have Interesting Ink to photograph and interview.  I not only want to capture your Ink, but I need to capture the story behind it as well.  Is it a tribute to someone now gone?  A memorial?  A reminder of happier times?  Sadder times?  Where you came from?  The result of too much shore leave in Singapore?   Pretty pictures are only half the deal on this one, folks.

Session Requirements   

Open to both MALE & FEMALE models, but participants MUST be at least 18 years of age with a picture ID to prove it.  I will need a copy of your ID, and you will also be expected to sign my Commercial Model Release prior to shooting. 

Sessions are short, with time split evenly between shooting & discussing your Ink.  In addition to a standard headshot, I require two views of your Ink:   an extreme close up for detail & a wider view to locate the Ink's positioning on the body beautiful.

Depending on precisely where you have located your Ink, some brief nudity may be required, but is NOT the focus of the session. 

Model Compensation

This project is being conducted on a Trade basis.  Each model participating in the project will receive, at minimum, their choice of 3 edited image files sized for both print & web use.  Please note I said "minimum."  The model having multiple tattoos will likely receive more images than the model with a single tattoo.  Fair's fair, boys & girls...

Note:  Not all tattoos are sufficiently Interesting to be included in the project.  There are many examples of Skin Art that are quite beautiful in and of themselves yet are not sufficiently Unique to be included in this project.  This project is focused on capturing as many Unique examples of the art form as possible...
