I've been behind a camera in one form or another since before my voice broke. Films mainly. But there is something about the power of a single, silent, still image that makes me keep photography as my irresistable mistress.
I hate landscapes, I hate still life... but most of all I hate pretty pictures of pretty girls looking pretty. If that is what you are looking for I'm probably not your guy.
I only have one rule when it comes to photographing people. I will not under any circumstances alter the shape of your face or body. I will dick around with the image a lot to make it... I dunno... cinematic but I can't stand photographers who take a girl (and let's face it, there's a gender imbalance in this arena) with a big nose/thick waist-line or wonky eye and 'correct' her appearance to something ideal. Here's the truth: That nose you think is too big is actually your most striking feature. That round arse/small bustline you feel so self-conscious of is what makes your physique unique. Photoshop is a wonderful tool that helps us more conceptual shutterbugs create what we see in our heads but, personally, I'm sick of seeing the same old boring faces and bodies. It's not sexy, not playful, not clever - it is plain boring as fuck, and, quite frankly, anti-art. If the the eyes are the window to the soul how dare we alter them with a computer? It's sheer masturbation.
End rant.
I like images with some fun about them, some play. Some grittiness. Some texture. Some GENUINE sexiness.
I do charge for my time but the (very reasonable) rates all vary depending on the project. Sorry, but a boy's gotta eat.
That said, given the right project and people then I'm all for TFP etc. Life's too short NOT to be doing interesting things with good people.
