Hello all, I am a recent Texas transplant and would like to start getting back to work on my photography. In order to do that I need models, makeup artists, and hair stylists! I also enjoy working with other photographers on collaborative works.
I worked for 6 years at a photography studio and then decided to go back to school for my masters. I currently teach digital graphics and photography in Houston, TX.
My most recent work dealt with an exploration of vulnerability, anxiety, paranoia, and a bit of humor. I have directed the gaze to the body by working mainly with models and beginning to incorporate written work onto the bodies of nude models. Through this, the use of gas masks create a stronger, more prominent point of view; still allowing for your own interpretation. The vulnerability of the body is exposed in contrast to the protection that the gas masks offer.
I have explored the humor of paranoia within our society today, by writing excerpts from 1950's pamphlets for personal protection against nuclear attacks on the bodies of my models. The photographs intentionally focus on segments of the body rather than portraiture, and entitle the viewer to feel as if they have come across a "scene" rather than a model simple posing for a picture.
