"There are no rules for great photographs. Only great photographs." - Ansel Adams
Welcome! My name is Fredrick Brock. My wife (Marianne) and I operate Brock Photography in Montgomery, Alabama. I am a commercial photographer with several decades of experience; and, a member the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
My profile is somewhat lengthy; so, for your convenience, I have organized the information into sections. Each section begins with bold header text, which should assist you in locating the information you seek.
If you don't find the information you're looking for, message me here on MM, or visit us on Facebook
. Marianne and I sincerely like hearing from models and other industry professionals of all skill levels.
BASIC 411 & POLICIES OVERVIEW
I am a published, commercial photographer with more than three decades of experience. I have photographed people, other animals, places, things and events on 5 continents. With very few exceptions, if you can think of it, I've probably shot it!
For the last 5 years, my wife and I have shot thousands of editorial and commercial portfolio pieces for models, actors, authors, musicians, bands, professional entertainers, dignitaries and politicians.
Our commercial rates and licensing fees vary depending upon the type of shoot; and, the intended use of the photographs. However, shoots that we consider to be fun and creative can be quite reasonable; whereas, having us photograph dull and boring stuff can be prohibitively expensive. What constitutes dull and boring stuff? Well, lets just say that, “Shoots that involve natural makeup; jeans and a sweatshirt; Converse-like shoes; and, a local park can be very expensive!”
Each month we try to set aside enough planning, production and shooting time to do a couple of TF* shoots with models (and other industry professionals) who are trying to get started, or reestablished in the industry.
Our TF* shoots are scaled down versions of our full-scale commercial production shoots; and, are produced and conducted in a professional manner. Don't plan to just show-up and shoot; and, don't expect to leave the shoot with a CD/DVD that contains all of the Out of Camera (OOC) JPG images. As a published photographer, we only release processed, copyrighted images that are suitable for public display.
If you think you would like to do a TF* shoot with us, please read our Model's TF* Information Sheet
(PDF document). It explains what you may expect from our TF* Shoots.
Much of our current work has trended toward a pseudo-illustrated style of photography. This type of photography has become very popular for use in CD covers; calendars; print advertising; and, limited edition and fine-art photographic prints. Illustrated photography is also being incorporated into portfolio pieces for models, actors, dancers, musicians and other entertainers.
Pin-up, Lingerie, Beauty, Fashion, Glamour, Gothic, Lifestyle, Swimsuit, Erotic, Implied Fine-Art and Artistic-Nude, or almost anything else that is creative, interesting and/or challenging.
NUDITY, FETISH, ETC.:
Posing nude has never been a requirement for working with us; and, we can honestly say that we have never asked a model to pose nude, or shoot fetish. We are, however, always honored and flattered by the models who trust us and ask for these types of work.
We shoot tasteful nudes and fetish shoots with models who are professional and experienced within the industry.
ESCORTS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, ENTOURAGE, ETC.:
A properly behaved and quiet friend, escort, or family member will almost always be welcome at our shoots! In fact, space permitting, we have even allowed small entourages and the general public to attend our shoots. Pretty much, there are very few situations when the foregoing policy does not apply; and, if one of those situations does arise, everyone involved will be made well aware of the limitations well in advance of the shoot.
No problem, check around! We have worked diligently for decades to earn and maintain a professional reputation within the industry.

Yes, we have a couple of well equipped studio spaces and facilities that we use for our commercial photography. Most small scale commercial and portfolio work is performed in our portrait studio. Our portrait studio is located in the Courtyard Shopping Center, at 2101 Eastern Boulevard, Suite 314, Montgomery, Alabama 36117. Large commercial projects are produced and conducted in a 7,500 square feet commercial studio/warehouse space.
We shoot locally and worldwide, in all locations except for The Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Burma); and, a few provinces in South-Central China.
We provide client lists, along with our portfolio books, to reputable talent agencies, publishers and media outlets. We do not publish our client list on the Web; and, we do not provide client lists via email, or via telephone. If you have been around this industry for any period of time, you already know why.
