On long-term medical hiatus. Won't be modeling again probably until early 2012. Please keep me in your thoughts, this is going to be a long frightening ride.

...oh who the heck am I kidding, not only do I not care who knows, the scars will affect my modeling forever. Drumroll please...I have breast cancer. >_< Stage 1 infiltrative ductal carcinoma, AKA a lump just barely to the right of my left nipple. I just had a bilateral mastectomy on Dec 7th; the surgery went brilliantly and I'm recovering VERY fast. I did chemo, and it delayed my following two surgeries by 4 months, so I had the second one at the end of September, and am looking at the last one Dec 13th. Those surgeries (to adjust the symmetry, and then to make new nipples), will be about every 90 days or so, followed by the tattooing of the areolas back on 90 days after the last surgery. So...roughly a year and a half until my breasts are back to the closest to normal I'll ever be. Took the replacement tissue from my abdomen, which will leave a long crescent-shaped scar under my belly, but will also allow for some normalcy to the tissue. The scar looks like it'll be pretty difficult to spot; it's healing up beautifully.

To sum up: the breasts&belly will both be scarred. Sorry if that disqualifies me from your work, I'd rather live. ^_^ All stats will vary greatly after surgery, which is why they are not up; the doctors asked that I plump up a bit to give them more tissue to work with.

As the fundraiser site is closed, donations can still be made through Paypal at LedaLocke at Yahoo - fortunately most of the bills are paid for, but I'll still have to hit the deductible AGAIN next year (that's 5K, kids!) for the rest of the reconstruction. Any donations are VERY GREATLY appreciated...there has been one fundraiser, and another is upcoming, but every little bit helps.

The Six-Billion-Dollar Leda should be modeling again sometime late next year...stay tuned!

Also: to any models in the Bay Area considering a boob job, I HIGHLY recommend Dr Kilaru out of Fremont. He's incredibly talented, highly educated, and his work is bloody amazing. If he can rebuild me after a double mastectomy and have it look as good as it currently does before the adjustment surgeries, he can give you breasts that are beautiful as they are natural-looking - and from the pictures he showed me in the initial consult, they WILL keep even the most discerning eye guessing!
