BACKGROUND:
I have a Ph.D. in art history and was a tenured professor, during which time I published numerous articles in scholarly journals in the U.S. and Europe. I have taught at the University of Michigan, New York University, and The Smithsonian Institution. I have been working full-time as a fine-art photographer for a dozen years.

FAQ FOR POTENTIAL MODELS:
Beginning models often have a lot of questions about a potential shoot. Here are some basic guidelines:
The shoot typically lasts two or three hours and should be fun. These are art shoots, meaning that the final pieces may appear in galleries, museums, or my website. The images are not intended for magazine or commercial work (i.e., not for advertising, catalogue, etc.). I deliver the images in one of two ways:
1. TF (trade-for), meaning that you do not pay me and I do not pay you: You receive five jpegs after I have worked on them and produced what I consider to be the best images. These are not printable images.
2. Prints from the shoot: If you want prints, there will be a charge for this.
This is professional work, so you need to be punctual and well-organized. Do not worry about poses; I give feedback as we are doing the shoot. I always discuss the concept and look of the project with the model beforehand, in a brief meeting/casting in person. If we go move forward, the shoot typically takes place a few days later. I use a model release which you will receive well in advance of the shoot. My goal is to make you look as good as possible. As photographer, I retain the copyright.
