Nikki Marcus

A first born Romanian American, (would LOVE to do a gypsy or gothic shoot!), I've been a professional  voice talent for over 10 years after years of selling advertsing &  working behind the scenes in the music business..you may've heard me on many commercials, from Domino's Pizza to Ford Motorcars,or maybe while on hold;I do everything from radio & TV imaging, narration, web-audio, message-on-hold, to commercials, as well as characters for animation, and I'm an on-camera actor too.I also enjoy doing commercial print, retro pinup cheesecake modeling, parts modeling, model as an American Geisha, petite, glamour, lingerie, and swimwear. I do NOT do nudes, though i will do implied nudes. I also do promotional modeling, & spokesmodeling, & have worked for many different national companies. I currently am available as a 1940's cigarette girl for many types of events as well. Since I make my own schedule, I'm able to travel rather easily most of the time, which allows me to shoot in many locations. I love to do makeup and am a bit of a stylist myself as well! Especially vintage!

In my spare time, I train in traditional Shorin Ryu karate & MMA, as well as belly dance & swing. I'm always interested in  fun shoots, love the creative process on both ends, generally need new head shots often, & prefer paid work, though I will do trade with select photographers. I especially look for commercial print. I'm very unique and quite diverse in my looks, yet am accessible to a wide audience. I love retro pinup especially much, but am quite a chameleon. I've lots of fun putting together themes; love props, wigs, anything fun, & am very open minded. I am currently willing to do implied nudes, & only semi-nudes. While I am on the petite side, my legs are longer than my short waist, so it gives the impression that my legs are long & that I am taller than I actually am; nice bonus! I also have a vast array of vintage clothing & lingerie, & am a bit of a vintage stylist, design retro clothing, and am available to help with wardrobe & makeup, especially for retro pinup, but that's not my sole focus. I do prefer to do my own makeup for shoots, & usually do my own hair, but can always use help in that area from someone who really knows what they are doing!

I have to be frank & add that I had a very long bout with a horrible mystery illness that almost left me for dead several times in the last two years, thankfully now, I am doing excellent, working, playing, enjoying life...stopping often to smell the roses... however, there are very strong emotions that need to come out....I went through so much, & admittedly part of me wonders, is it really over? So aside from doing other fun stuff, I'd be very interested in seeing who is willing to explore sadness, fear, hope, & the gammit of emotions (in an artsy, beautiful way), that someone in my position went through. It's an unfortunate phenomenon that many people go through, that does not get the press it deserves. The Faces of Illness, I call it.  I watch Mystery Diagnosis all the time! But, I digress...I will finally say, that I hope, "in the end", my ULTIMATE creative goal can be reached, which would be that I can be some sort of "success story" to inspire others who are suffering to never give up on hope, & to bring others peace... it DOES "spring eternal!"

It's still a VERY abstract idea for me, but really something I'd like to explore in addition to other interesting shoots. I'm also very interested in Film Noir, art deco, semi nudes, retro glamour such as Hurrell, etc., petite modeling, pinup, commercial, print, parts modeling, & whatever I may appropriate for!...Almost anything interesting, I love edgy, artsy, abstract, black and white, but I also love natural, & natural light, as much as I love glam- I guess I'm all over the parking lot: I love to PLAY!

I have no silly dreams of being a 6 ft amazon that can Brazilian stomp the he%* out of a runway..(though my runway walk ain't bad at all thank you! I do model in local fashion shows) I'm a real girl with a REAL chest. I reiterate- I am VERY open minded, & would like to get as many faces of Nikki out of myself as possible, as it really lends itself to my acting ability, which is great for my voice work & of course auditioning. I'll tell you one thing, I won't be put inside a box, & I surely won't die with my music still in me!  I must also mention for anyone who wants to see a LOT more photos of me, please check My Space, look up my 'Nikki Marcus Voiceover' page (the other ones that will pop up also are inactive; I don't check them), -please- befriend me! I want to add that I have a 1957 PINK Thunderbird, which serves as a great prop for pinup pics! I also live in Phoenix's 3rd oldest home, and it's a fab backdrop! And filled with antiques.

And, as an important addendum, I must add that I really appreciate it when a photographer gives me a full comp CD to look through, to be involved in the process of choosing what's best for my port. Of course any artist should approve what goes out in the public eye, that's their rep, but it's also the models. I think it's quite standard to get a full CD, and to sign a release protecting the photographer's images. It's whats ethical and covers everyone. But I think a lot of photogs do not realize that some models get "flaky" (not all, I know!) on them or stop booking with them, because frankly they put a lot of work into a shoot too and want to see results, not just the ones that the photographer chooses, when it's either too artsy albeit beautiful, is not port compatible for them personally for whatever reason, perhaps unknown, or is very much like something they already have in their port, when they are trying to diversify, they feel that they are not getting results, or what they need.So that's something I like to agree upon at some level and discuss prior to shooting so everyone is on the same page and a satisfactory agreement is come to. I believe that models too need to CYA as much as the photographers do these days, and it's not personal, just business. As a model signs a release, & including the fact that the photographer owns the photos forever, to a degree, I think it's also fair for the model to have expectations and agreements with her photographer. This lends itself to a very positive & productive relationship!
