About Me

…a little about David, the conqueror...

My name is David Patrick Clarke and I was born on the 17th march 1991, I grew up under the mentorship of my mother who was also a dressmaker, serving the local community with her services. It came as no surprise to my parents when I began my expedition into the world of fashion at age seven, when I first experimented with the sewing machine. It took ten years of hard work and perseverance to get to the point of perfection in relation to developing my individuality and wholesome sense of fashion and sewing abilities

It was after graduating from high school that I ventured into the challenging undergraduate experience of law at our local university but later realized that law just wasn’t cut out for me. It took a small, local fashion contest for students to unleash the beginning of a career that I seem destined for when an opportunity aroused for me to enter into and be a part of FACTS (Fashion, Arts and Creativity by Talented Students) Season 2 show, I jumped at the chance and ended up into a world that couldn’t unleashed me, this young fashion enthusiasts, fast enough. Being the only male contestant, with a unique sense of style and exceptional creative genius, it was only natural for me to unleash such combustion of creativity that took the local runway fashion industry by storm.

In 2007, at age seventeen I made my début in the local fashion industry as a contestant on the local television show FACTS- (Fashion Arts and Creativity by Talented Students) and captivated the audience with my fashion and style. It is with less than a year’s designing experience under my belt that I was given the task to create my own collection and completed four runway shows, which includes one of the more prestigious fashion events; the genesis fashion rhythm. At this mainstream event I shared the stage with some of the more prominent local and top Caribbean fashion designers.

Currently, I work with Guyana’s top designer, Michelle Cole, under her company brand, Facts & Roses and Colefacts. Being placed a top finalist in the FACTS show afforded me the opportunity to work under the tutelage of, Michelle Cole, who is also a great source of inspiration and creativity to the fashion industry locally and abroad

I see myself as a fashion creator who is resourceful in finding contemporary ways of incorporating everyday life experiences and landscaping elements into my designs. It is what stems my artistic qualities and portrays a readily, dependable and assertive individual who strives for success in an industry that can be viewed as harshly competitive as it can be looked upon as challengingly great.

It is my intention as a young fashion designer to draw more attention to the local fashion industry, and encourage more young talent to come on board and place Guyana’s fashion industry on the map. , people can expect nothing less than creative and artistic excellence from me as the rest of the world humbly awaits for my début to the international arena of fashion

An introduction of my beautiful and exotic country

Filled with a rain forest landscape of colors of an untouched paradise and a people of great hospitality is Guyana; the only English speaking country in South America with an emerging fashion industry that seems designed to become the new fashion Mecca of the Caribbean and South America.
It is generally seen as a great risk to join the fashion industry here as young talents are stifled due to the fact that our fashion industry is only now gaining its strength to stand on its own.
