About me
Hi, my name is Michael Oh. I am an enthusiastic "photographer" and a student at Santa Monica College studying AA Cosmetology. I am applying for MFA Studio Arts at UCLA for Fall 2011. I photographed for college newspaper at the football games, waterpolo, men and women's soccer games, and volleyball games for a semester at Cerritos College. I get all happy when I see the photographs I shot get chosen for the school newspaper. It's exciting.
I am doing mostly head shots now and using one of the photographs to oil paint a 16 inch by 16 inch oil painting and displaying the head shots in 4x6 in front of finished oil painting.
I like to work with various models, mostly women but men too, all shapes and ages and always try my best. I am into experimenting with environment and mood. I like to photograph the character of the model if at all possible.
I got started with my dad's rangefinder 35mm camera when I was 13 years old. I took 300 hours of darkroom photography in high school and used my friends as studio models. Then, I took allot of art classes in high school in fine arts mostly: jewelry making, ceramics, painting, mural, and graphics design.
Then, I joined US Army. Now, I am a proud US Army veteran. I am using my GI Bill to study up. So, the life is happening slowly for me. I have been a graphic artist for about 7 years and been techie for 10 years con-currently doing network security analyst work.
I am at growing stage to gain more photography experience. I got interested in hair/makeup from fashion shows I went to. I got inspired to take cosmetology and want to get a state board license to practice and work alongside photography. Then, I want to get a esthetician license and work on those area as well. Recently, I learned how to do hair extension weaving. So, everything is fun and exciting for me right now.

Casting Calls: I am looking to shoot head shots and body images for oil painting references. People in action, sports, and activity of every sort. I will pay $55 for two hour session. Model release of resemblance from those images for oil painting production is required for all works. My main focus is to get me inspired to do an oil painting. Photography is to help me get creative with my studio arts activities. If you are interested in this on-going works, let me know by email at art.pets@gmail.com. You will receive all the photographs that I take of you in addition to $55 for two hours of photography session in full size JPEG.
Mainly, I use Canon 7D, 50mm L f1.2 and 70-200 IS L f2.8. 580 EX II and Gary Fong.
