My name is Kate Stein. I am a stylist and art director.
I am inspired by forgotten culture and foreign lands. I love the mystery of the unknown, the freedom of colour, and the blaring contrasts that binds them.
This is the backbone of my work.
I want to collaborate with the best talent in the world. My work aims to provoke and change attitudes toward culture, tradition, religion and physical boundaries. I want my work to have depth and soul, pushing past society’s habitual perception of a mundane ‘reality’.

In early 2012 I relocated from Brisbane, Australia to New York, to pursue an internationally focused career path as a fashion stylist and art director.
I am self-employed, being the Managing Director of ‘KATE STEIN’ which focuses on creative direction, design and styling.
I have international experience. Challenges include regular travel throughout South East Asia and India for fashion sourcing and styling projects. Organizational and logistical barriers whilst conducting business in Third World countries has allowed for a unique professional experience and a profound development in terms of personal and creative growth.
I speak fluent German and kick-started my career in Berlin, Germany, working in costume design and the fashion industry to explore and develop my distinct style.
I am flexible and have diverse skills. I have industry experience in Public Relations and have completed a Bachelor of Mass Communication (majoring in Public Relations and Media and Communications). I have a solid grounding in branding, online communication and social networking.
I have worked on strategic and creative direction for EP launches and album art. I have assisted and styled film clips and I have contributed regular editorial work for the Australian magazines Culture and Peppermint and international online magazine CAKE. Personal clients include iconic Australian surf labels Kustom and Element Eden as well as the We Are Handsome luxury swimwear label.
