I just graduated at UT Austin with a degree in fine art, specializing in painting. Up until now, a majority of my photography work has been for class projects, or for family, but I hope to do some projects for fun and profit with other creative people in the near future - hence my presence on this illustrious website.
Cliches are hard to avoid when talking about my approach to photography. Ultimately, figure photography excels in capturing subtleties of emotion, and that's what I try to do. Every Pulitzer winner I can remember struck a chord because they managed to freeze an instant of intense emotion in someone's life. I suppose successful photography recreates that.
As a person, I am extremely laid-back and flexible. The times I have photographed people have always been collaborative in nature. So, if you do a shoot with me, expect to be given some credit for having a creative mind of your own.
Some ground rules:
1. Please be where you say you will be, when you say you will be there. Nothing is worse that wasting time because of some else's disrespect and irresponsibility. Even though there's absolutely nothing I can do to someone for not showing up, it's still about the uncoolest thing a model could do.
2. No kids, friends, etc, are welcome at a shoot. Every time I have worked with someone while a third party was involved, especially a child, the project turned into an undertaking three times longer, and many times more frustrating, than it would have been otherwise.
3. Although this should go without saying, I must add upon the advice of a friend of mine: no drug/alcohol use while at a shoot, or shortly beforehand. Just, not while I'm around.
Anyhow, I look forward to networking with all the creative minds of the weirdest city in Texas. The best way to contact me is through private message on MM. Don't be shy if you want to bounce ideas around. :)
