My name is Jeru The Damaja. Through over fifteen celebrated years in the music business I have established myself as a multitalented, multifaceted artist and businessperson. I was always fascinated by cameras. I even wrote and co-directed some of my own music videos winning awards from the likes of The Source and Rolling Stone magazine.
In the past year I have fallen in love with photography and it is my goal to become one of the best photographers in the world. Being an established international recording artist has made this journey an interesting one. My busy tour schedule allows me to run into my peers in all sorts of crazy places. I have photographed artist from Flavor Flav to Talib Kweli in venues all over the world. I was even contacted by the grandson of Richard Avedon one of the greatest photographers of all time, and was offered an internship at his foundation in the MoMa.
Unfortunately I'm on tour most of the time so I had to decline.
After A lot of shooting and experimenting I feel I have come up with a Photographic style that is uniquely mine. I have my first photo exhibition coming up later this year in Paris and then another at the Royal Danish library in Copenhagen Denmark.
