Hi. I'm Stephanie and I am a graduate of the fashion department of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
Plastic surgery, body modification, piercings and tattoos can drastically alter a person’s image and make a bold statement. However, they are commonplace enough in todays society that you would be hard-pressed to find someone who does not brandish at least one of these body-alterations. Conceptual fashion and clothing, on the other hand, are very rarely seen outside of a runway or show. Certainly the majority of conceptual fashion is not so garish or obscene that it shouldn’t be able to be worn in public without drawing a crowd. Would it not be more interesting and worthwhile to see the public in interesting yet fashionable outfits that provoke thought? A line must exist where functional garments meet with the conceptual. What better place to start than with the human body itself?
Japanese street fashion, lolita, alternative, goth, punk, steampunk, the human anatomy, modifications and the idea of modifying the body, surgery, horror/gore, dystopian futures, vintage, lingerie, fetish, corsets, comic/manga, video games, mythology/folklore, etc.
