About MeDare to succeed outside of the box. Never limit yourself by someone else's preconceived notion. You must set yourself apart and be different. That is style. That is the hallmark of an artist.......
My works start with little more than raw material. Most of the time, I am inspired by color or pose, but sometimes the written word or an expressed emotion. The paintings begin with layers of color that are simply poured onto the canvas and allowed to create on their own. Then as I work into them, a shape may begin to come out. At that point is when I need a model....
I've been painting for close to 40 years: since before I could walk as I grew up in my mother's and grandfather's art studio (both professional artists and teachers). They would put me in the back with a lump of clay or paints and I would be there for hours. I painted as a staunch realist until my late twenties; after which, I found my creative voice in abstraction.
I work best with a live model - but its awful hard to get someone to hold perfectly still for more than 20 minutes at a time, so I now most often work from photos.
