While much of my work is experimental and abstract, I often draw inspiration from beautiful women: their forms, personalities, and ideas. The artist/model relationship at its most successful is a true collaboration.
My painted figurative work has lately been an exploration of the traditional genre of bathers. Here I recontextualize contemporary images towards the creation of a new person who inhabits an abstract, primordial, or idyllic atmosphere.
My video and photographic works often subvert the contemporary relationship between professional models and commerce, in an attempt to highlight the pure beauty of the moment and the model.
Another focus is video portraiture, combining full-face views with closeups of eyes and mouth. Here I look to capture a specific moment in time and celebrate the simple beauty of a young woman's expressions as they unfold during a conversation or interview. The pleasure of editing this footage lies in the secret that there is tremendous beauty passing before our eyes in every millisecond of existence.
