Raised in a family of traveling artists, Jesse La Plante excelled in many mediums from a very young age-drawing, street performing and jewelry-making, among others-before finding his true niche in photography.
In May of 2007, Jesse received his Bachelor of Science in photojournalism from Central Michigan University, which offers one of the top journalism programs in the country, uniquely combining both classroom and applied learning.
During his senior year, Jesse took full advantage of the hands-on opportunities at CMU; he began shooting for newspapers across Michigan, including the Jackson Citizen Patriot, the Adrian Daily Telegram and the Clare Sentinel.
In the summer of 2008, with the decline of the journalism industry, Jesse spent a few months traveling and photographing the American West before settling in Boulder, Colorado, to explore other photographic avenues.
Working out of studios in Boulder and Denver, Jesse shoots a variety of commercial projects for local companies and publications. In addition, he has been fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph weddings in some of the most beautiful and iconic venues in Colorado, from the untamed Wild Basin Lodge to the urbane Denver Art Museum. Jesse also shoots an eclectic array of portraits-from senior and family photos to fashion and model portfolios-as well as his more avant-garde art series.
In addition to his passion for photography, Jesse also has a love of traveling. In the past several years, Jesse has documented his travel through 14 foreign countries and 49 United States. From the Tasman Sea to the Mediterranean, the Costa Rican jungle to the Redwood Forest, the lava tubes on the Big Island of Hawai'i to the the "Tube" in London, the Eiffel Tower to the maquette in Las Vegas, Jesse has roamed, camera at the ready.
