"Trina Merry's amazing work blurs the lines of reality" -Huffington Post.
Agency represented fine art and commercial bodypainter recently transplanted to New York.
Bodypaint creates a special connection to a person that other visual art forms have trouble accomplishing; it’s a distinctly human experience. My surface is living, breathing human beings making this a highly relevant & immediate medium. I use non-toxic hypoallergenic paint applied with a brush or airbrush. The painting is temporary, like a Tibetan sand painting, beginning to change into another work as soon as I stop painting, changing texture & color.
For this reason highly intentional photography has become an important part of documenting my work. I collaborate closely with photographers to make sure I share the same perspective eye as the technology. Likewise, I work with my human canvases on poses, creating new opportunities for line & form.
My work is sometimes experienced live as an installation, for example, at museums, or preserved through photographs as limited edition fine art prints. I love the double-take people do as they look at my work. It's this reaction that ignited my recent human motorcycle project to go internationally viral in the media.
I apprenticed under world renown bodypainter Craig Tracy at his gallery in New Orleans. I have a B.A. in film & worked in the art department in Hollywood on major films & tv shows before finding my current medium.
I live in New York but travel frequently.
I do portfolio building, private commissions, events, lookbooks, and commercial advertisting campaigns.
I sell signed, limited edition prints of my work.
I do some guaranteed editorials TF. I do one thing for a charity per quarter for trade- materials must be covered and I must receive a tax write off. If you are supporting a charity & throwing an event, we are willing to be paid our normal rates and donate a portion of our proceeds directly to the charity to legally receive the write off for our services.
I have a full 75 person troupe called the Art Alive Gallery which included models/circus performers/dancers, hair, mua, photography, video, art department & more. We are a one stop shop for what you need.
I have my own fine art series I plan out a year in advance & am by nature a performance/installation artist so I dont really need to do TF work. But if it's an AMAZING concept and your portfolio is AMAZING contact me & we can see if its a good fit.
