About Me

My name is Dave Lord. I have a B.A. in Fine Art and my approach to my photography is directly influenced by my experiences painting and drawing. I look at my models, the composition, and the light and shadows as if I were going to re-create the scene on canvas.  As a child, I refused to trace a picture, I had to be able to draw it free-hand. Now, as a photographer, I have the same resistance to "photoshop" and digital manipulation of my photos. I am not a computer wizard and don't want to be. I strive to always get the shot in the camera and to be a great photographer! As a result, my models are more excited to work with me and encouraged to see that they are truely beautiful, and the camera loves them without the computer! Join me in the persuit of the Art of Real Photography!

*** Models that insist on escorts: I understand your concern & it is definately warranted in today's sick world. I always ask my new models to meet with me before our 1st shoot to "break the ice" & discuss our plans for our shoot(s). At this meeting I welcome escorts, friends, boyfriends, or husbands to come along to meet me & see my home & studio where some of my work is done. That way they can see my operation & they know where I live.  Trust is a "2 way street", I don't know you or those you bring into my home. I have more at risk here & I am giving you my trust by allowing you into my home. So...my policy is after the 1st meeting, no escorts etc... This way you are not influenced or distracted by the person you brought & I don't feel like someone is watching me with mistrust or have to worry if they are "snooping-around" while we shoot.  If we can't have trust, we're just taking pictures not making art. If you need references, just ask. I grew up in the Detroit area so I am "streetwise" & skeptical too. Thank you for understanding.
---***   Also: please ask your escort to treat me & my home with respect & to not give me "attitude" from the start-I've had that several times & don't appreciate intimidation or deal well with it.  If they have a problem with you modeling, please work that out before we meet. Thanks.

**Models with Tattoos: Due to Copyright Law 17 U.S.C. 1203, & the recent high-profile law suit by a tattoo artist that almost stopped the release of "Hangover 2", I will not photograph your tattoos. I also have my own personal opinion about tattoos on beautiful skin, but this isn't about my opinion, it's about legalities- I don't want to infringe on anyone's Intellectual Property Rights or have our artwork blocked or sued. I am also currently in a suit with Hooters Corp. for this same thing so it is an issue for me. Hope you understand.

My thanks, respect, and friendship to my "Top Model", Amanda Koehn,(MandyK) MM#2154946, for her help, patience, professionalism, and friendship. We've had lots of great times with the pics. to prove it - many more to come!

Easter Sunday, 1987, Opryland Hotel, Nashville, TN- *Steven Tyler of Aerosmith approached me as I was photographing my cousins and asked if I would photograph him with lead guitarist Joe Perry and their dates! Unfortunately he wanted me to do it with his camera & it was long before email and digital images so I have no copies-only the memories and my cousins as witnesses.
I have had several images from my Fine Art Photography portfolio published in local calendars, newspapers and one book- "Capture My Colorado", Pediment Pub. 2008, pic.-"Magnification" and pic.-"Storm Riders" *People's Choice Award winner.

Fall 2014 my Fine Art Photography was accepted by the Grand Junction Arts Commission for their rotating gallery exhibits.

My model, Amanda Koehn, was the Hooters' Beer of the Month Girl for all 7 Colorado Hooters for November 2010. My photo of her:                                       " Amanda in Cowgirl Outfit 1", was the one used.
