I see make-up as an art form, I’m self-taught and now a freelance pro make-up artist.
I’m starting to build my own business, still building clientele, working on my portfolio.
I have always loved art, ever since around the age of 4 I begged my mom to take me to drawing and painting classes. I didn’t get into make-up until I was a teenager. When I bought my first make-up book, I learned new techniques and I taught myself how to apply lipstick, foundation, contouring, eyeshadows. I had my friends and family ask me to do their make-up for prom, school dances, weddings, etc.
I’m inspired by the reaction I get from friends and clients when I’m done with their make-up. I like to do looks from dramatic, horror, bridal, natural, pin-up, fantasy, etc. Last summer, I attended Kandee Johnson’s pro make-up course “The Glaminars” I got certified and got me started on my new career, I’m still planning on attending more seminars.
My inspiration right now is: Lady Gaga.
Make-up artist I look up to are: Kevyn Aucoin, Rae Morris and Billy B to name a few.
On April 2011 I had a chance to showcase my work with RAW natural born artists. I did the makeup for the fashion show, it was a great experience.
Here’s a link of pictures that were taken from a photographer that day http://www.flickr.com/photos/rawartists/sets/72157626376789239/
On November 10 2011 I was nominated as Makeup artist of the year for the RAW: natural born artist http://www.rawartists.org/seattle.
