McLaine Oberhellmann is originally from Saint Louis, MO. McLaine moved to Miami to study fashion design at the International Fine Arts College. She graduated with honors and while still in school completed an internship with one of her teachers companies called Petit Poise. Upon graduating she moved to California and worked as an assistant to the head of design at a women's sportswear company. After moving back to Miami she started to design clothing primarily for herself. Her friends really liked what she was doing and soon were her first customers. After doing custom pieces for awhile she decided it was time to put together a small collection and a website.
From a very early age McLaine was always doing something creative. She loved to draw and paint and had a natural talent for hair and makeup. McLaine always found herself experimenting with wild hair colors and crazy makeup.
As a teenager McLaine really fell in love with music and felt strongly influenced by punk rock music and fashion. This is when she decided that she wanted to study fashion design. It just made perfect sense to her.
Miami has influenced McLaine's work in a way in which no other city could have. The bright bold beautiful colors and general sexy vibe paired with her rock n' roll sensibilities have been a great combination for the clothing she designs.
McLaine's clothing is fun colorful sexy clothing that makes you feel feminine and girly and smile at the same time.
Many of the fabrics She use are hand silkscreened. All of my garments are truly unique and no two garments will ever be the same. McLaine started doing this because she found it impossible to find what she was looking for in the fabric stores. All of the prints she use are always on top quality fabrics and have been cured to prevent fading.
