Hello I’m Sarah!
I am a Calgary Wedding Photographer and I own a Boudoir studio for women.
I have always known what I wanted to do when “I grew up” – not necessarily the specifics of the style of photography I wanted to do, just that I wanted to be a photographer.
I have always shot what I’m passionate about. I started off shooting fashion photography. All of a sudden, women started asking me to shoot their weddings. I finally agreed to try it out in 2004. You know the old saying that “once you try it, you might get hooked”? Well the cliché definitely applies to me!
I love the art of fashion & the realness of people. Combining the two were an easy choice for me. My work tells couples’ stories in an editorially influenced way. Weddings aren’t for everyone, but they are what feeds my soul. One of my favourite things is love & being able to see the connection people have with each other.
I studied photojournalism and journalism in college and graduated in 2006. It taught me how to anticipate the unexpected – I feel like I’m a modern day ninja!
I always want to know what my couples like to do & get to know them better, so I decided to turn the tables this time and make myself an open book, explaining a little bit about what I do when I’m not capturing special moments.
I LOVE tea & coffee. I could drink it from morning to night. The most important things in my life are my family & my Pug, Tiesto – she’s hilarious. My family has always been small – I’m a daughter to an amazing mother and a younger sister to an older brother. I am an aunty, and a wife to an amazing man.
I enjoy traveling a little too much – I want to see the world and meet amazing people along the way.
I would choose a cabin over a hotel any day.
If the world decided to be sea foam green, I would reside in a sea foam house on a sea foam lake with my sea foam pug – hypothetically speaking of course.
My favourite things to do are going antiquing and garage sale-ing. I love the old more than I love the new. I am energised by abandoned buildings and discovering places that have been forgotten. I’m an explorer at heart.
If I could go anywhere in the world I would go to Japan. My top five things on my bucket list are: marry my best friend (done), go to Japan (done), travel to a rain-forest, pet a musk, meet a capybara chilling in a hot tub and do something so amazing that I cry.
I believe that everyone deserves love in their life – my only wish is that I can capture it.
