Canadian born and raised, Emily Mackenzie started her career in her teens, sewing up the latest trends for her girlfriends without so much as a pattern. However, Emily did not pursue a serious career in fashion design until emigrating to Australia, where she now calls Coogee Beach in New South Wales her home.
Emily attended the prestigious Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney, honing her skills and following her dream of becoming a fashion designer. With an entrepreneurial spirit, she launched her own label in 2007 Mackenzie Mode and has not had time to look back!
Drawing inspiration from the 50s era, she considers her clothing functional yet funky. As a new generation designer, she endeavors to keep her line eco-friendly with small local production and high quality natural fibers such as cotton, silk and wool. Her original attention-grabbing signature designs use the bold and beautiful prints from Finnish textile designer Marimekko, which she transforms into free-spirited dresses, each one as individual as you are.
Mackenzie Mode designs have won awards and been featured in local publications, and word of mouth has seen her business grow. Her fashions are being worn all over Australia and around the world by those passing through Sydney and lucky enough to find her!
