Well I, for one, am glad you asked that there question about the female genitalia - and agree with your inclination :-) I'm also glad that you got a few serious replies there, though a thread like that is also an easy way to catalogue people who are afraid of what it is to be human, too.
Sadly, much about the mainstream modeling and photography industry is about only showing people who are literally "easy" on the eye - no challenge, no thought. I would also like to assure you photographers who shoot the look you describe, do exist - but the short answer to your question as to why you never see it: because most people are pansies >.<
