Born and brought up in the vibrant cosmopolitan hub of Asia’s world-class city Hong Kong, Resham Daswani is an international connoisseur of culture and diversity. With her home being a unique meeting point for the East and West, Resham has always being inspired by the lifestyle of Chinese heritage, British colonial influences, the architecture of old and new and skyscrapers suurounding a fast pace city life that lies side by side with serene mountain top views.
In 2007 she decided to follow her passion of Fine Arts to London at the prestigious Chelsea College of Art and Design and shortly after discovered her fervor for fashion and succeeded to London College of Fashion to be formally trained and graduate with a BA in Surface Textiles and Womenswear in 2011.
Having worked with an array of British designers along the way and being drenched within the London artistic lifestyle, Resham’s graduate collection was widely influenced by her multicultural upbringing, European techniques and her roots of Indian heritage, where she traveled to source out fabrics and techniques and was extraordinarily inspired with the culture and history that lay before her. The collection was an embodied harmony between Indian and contemporary clothing, structured with a sophisticated appeal alongside drapery silhouettes within a decayed monotone colour palette.
Resham designs for the strong individual woman with an independent edge. Her style is dark, androgynous and futuristic in its own way, with strict attention to detail and use of developed textile techniques yet committed to maintaining timeless flair.
This collection was recently shot for the Toni and Guy for Wella catalogue 2012 London.
Currently based in Hong Kong from October 2011. Contact regarding use of garments for photoshoots and other projects must provide all relevant details.
