About Me

Ava J. Holmes started when she was five; she is now the fashion director for The Gabby Wild Foundation in a addition to a model, actress, dancer and producer.

At 16-year-olds Ava J. founded and ran her own production company, A. Runway Show Productions, through which she predominately produced runway show benefits for environmental causes. It was then when Ava J. was introduced to the Gabby Wild Foundation by a mutual makeup artist for one of her shows and Gabby’s 12 in 12 for 12 campaign.

Ava J., excited by the similarity in Gabby Wild’s mission to her own (conservation through fashion), immediately invited Gabby to feature her foundation’s work in her Apocalyptic Runway Show (Gabby accepted). Soon after, Ava J. became part of the GWild team, (as an intern and then backstage manager for GWild Conservation Catwalks in NYC). Now Ava J. is the fashion director for the GWild Foundation’s fashion sector and coined its title, “Conservation in Style.”

Ava J.’s background in production started on the other side of the stage. Growing up in New York, she started her career in the performing arts as an agency represented model and actor, and company dancer (she has featured in numerous films such as “Grey,” fashion publications like “The Dapifer,” fashion shows for designers including Rachael Reichert and more). Modeling, along with completing an apprenticeship with the Sew Green Design Program and working in retail led to Ava J.’s “passion for fashion.” It is also at a young age that Ava J. placed herself at the forefront of several environmental movements including the NY and DC Power Shift Summit.

In high school, Ava J. began learning the ropes of backstage production while volunteering at events such as Cornell University’s annual fashion show (where she met Gabby, a model in the show, in person for the first time) Other early production endeavors include backstage managing high school plays, working for the city’s event planning department, and touring with her mother’s cross-country media group. In her Junior year of high school, she launched A. Runway Show Productions, a company that produced and promoted runway shows (like an edible fashion show with Victoria McKenzie Childs, the 2012 Apocalyptic Runway Show, and Te Amo).

Until very recently, Ava lived in the arts capital of the country, New York, where she directed various runway shows through her company, A. Runway Productions, attended various acting and dance classes, modeled for numerous assignments, and began her internship with Gabby Wild.

Now, in college, her problem in not “what to study,” but “what NOT to study” as nearly everything seems relevant to her work. Thus, while double majoring in environmental studies and communications, she is taking additional classes in the performing arts, urban planning, and business management at the University of Washington.

"Ava is one of the most spontaneous, skillful, and creative people one could meet, always up for a good time whether the production is small or large." -A. Runway Show Productions Staff Member

"Ava J. Holmes is an example of high fashion both on the runway and behind the scenes. She handled the entire night with the poise and grace that professionals more than twice her age could only hope to, at some point achieve." -Media Producer from NYC and Long Island

"Ava possesses a charm that I've only ever encountered working with her." - Private Photographer
