I am professional photographer with over 35 years behind the camera lens living in Vancouver, BC and I arrange photo-shoots from time to time for the love of the art and interest in developing my portfolio.
Instead of writing too much about myself I thought I would include a recent testimonial I received from a client that really tells you more about me than I can write on my own.
"I had the pleasure of meeting and working with a local Vancouver photographer named Ira. He does different kinds of photography but when we first started emailing he explained that a lot of his clients are woman, like me, who have lost weight and want to show it. This is what sparked my interest even further.
Its been awhile since my weight loss but I still feel like the same person I was until I see myself in a photograph. I think what Ira does is amazing he does a great job of capturing the subject. He is also extremely easy to work with. If I had been nervous the minute I met him that would have gone away.
I loved my afternoon and I love the pictures that came out of it and cant wait to work with Ira again."
Photography has been an integral part of my life for the past 40 years as a hobby and now a developing business. I realized recently that I had a special talent of helping people feel good about themselves and quickly became interested in how I could make this into a service far beyound the boundaries of traditional portrait or boudoir photography.
Over the past couple of years experimenting with different forms of photography I became interested in the concept of PhotoTherpy as I realized the medium was helpful in bringing people beyond negative issues they had with their bodies. Photography is a passion for me but I have a greater passion for helping people learning to embrace self-care and self-love.
Sometimes it will be as simple as a gift of self-love celebrating and re-enforcing accomplishments like weight loss or body sculpting and sometimes it will be facilitating therapeutic process to heal emotional conditions that have occurred from negative self images or being negatively objectified or treated by other people as a result of our bodies.
As far back as I can remember I was fascinated by photography. My earliest recollections were of polaroid cameras and the magic of instant black and white images. My father gave me my first camera at the age of 11 and by the age of 12 I was developing my very own photographs in a darkroom that he built for me in the basement of our house in Toronto. Some 40 years later I don't need that dark room anymore with digital photography...well thats not exactly true as I do use Lightroom software to touch up photos but I do love my professional equipment that helps me achieve stunning and professional quality pictures.
I now shoot with a Canon Pro DSLR Bodies with a nice combination of good prime, zoom and macro lenses and strobe, speedlite and continuous daylight lighting equipment which allows me to achieve very professional quality results on location or in the studio.
