Hello! My name is Kara! I'm the creative mind behind Kara Morrison Styling! I first began working with wardrobe a couple of years ago. Wardrobe styling is an interest that I took up after working as an actress and as a Theatrical Costumer during my high school and college years. My primary career now is as a professional actress. Personally, I've always had a very interesting and unique collection of clothes and accessories and a strong sense of style that has been influenced by the clothing of decades past and of some of my favorite classic movie stars. My style is very eclectic and I am interested in dabbling in all different types of looks. I love doing themed shoots and I'm always open to new and creative ideas--however, I always have a few ideas up my sleeve if you need a little guidance.
Here are my Frequently Asked Questions:
Q:How do I book KMS for an upcoming shoot?
A: The easiest way is to contact me via MM. Generally, I take MM messages a little more seriously than a tag, so I encourage you to send me a message. Please let me know if you have a date, a location, and a specific concept in mind for your shoot. If I do not answer you back in a timely manner, I apologize. I typically receive several messages at once and I may forget to open some of them. If you are seriously interested in working with me, please indicate this to me in your message.
Q: What are your rates and do you do TF?
A: My rates will usually depend on the project. Example: If I am asked to style up to 4 outfits for a shoot to take place in the Winter in the 1940s, I will have to factor in the amount of time needed to research the appropriate clothing for the time period. I am more than fair with my rates. I put a lot of personal time into each shoot that I do, time which I usually leave off of your tab. I am willing to do TF's under certain conditions: if my original jewelry is used and photos are allowed for promotion. If I am used as the model for the shoot. If my portfolio needs to be updated.
Q: Do I get to keep the clothes/accessories from the shoot?
A: Yes-if you purchased the items or gave me money to purchase the items. I will give you a receipt from where I purchased the clothing or accessories so that you will know exactly what I spent on the project. Typically I am given a budget and I will work from there. If I am lending a clothing piece, shoes, or accessories then you may not keep the items. If you fall in love with a piece and would like to purchase something from me, please ask and I may consider selling a piece to you. Please do not ask to keep any of my items without compensation--the answer will always be "no".
Q: Will you create a custom wardrobe piece for me?
A: Ask me about each piece. I rarely construct original pieces, but if it's for a special project, a charity shoot, or something unique, please let me know and I will consider it. Constructing wardrobe pieces can be expensive in materials alone, not including the long amounts of time it may take me to construct the piece. All things will be considering on an individual basis.
Anymore questions, please send them my way!
Q: How do I book KMS for a shoot?
A: Normally, I work primarily with photographers, who then select the specific model for our project. Models may book me for a shoot if they already have an experience photographer lined up and if our availability dates will all coincide.
Q: If I work with you, do I get to keep the clothes, shoes, accessories?
A: Only if you purchased them yourself. You can always ask to purchase an item from me, but I can't guarantee that all of my items are for sale. Please don't ask to keep any items without compensating me.
Q: Will you compensate me for my modeling services?
A: No, I am not able to compensate models for shoots. If you are compensated it will be through the photographer or otherwise.
Q: Do you work with models of all sizes?
A: Yes, most of my shoots will be arranged around clothing that has already been selected so you may not be right for every shoot, simply because we have to use a predetermined size.
Q: Can I bring my own clothing/accessories/shoes?
A: Yes, please. However, I ask that you do not change or add on to any of the outfits that I have put together. These photos are for my portfolio as well and I want people to see the outfits that I pieced together instead of the work of someone else.
