About Me

I began my journey as a photographer 5 years ago.  Today I am a painter who occasionally photographs.  I prefer street work and abstractions but if I am formally shooting human beings/models/women I prefer nudes because honesty and candor is my currency.  I started taking photos after suffering serious brain trauma and as a result pressing the shutter is a meaningful act for me and I am not interested in seeing who you want be, but rather who you are deep inside.  This is because I am passionate about what I like, feel and want to create and I do it only for myself, not for a paycheck.

While my portfolio reflects a certain style I want to create much more.  That style is hard to put into words, but I want to see into and through you with the lens.  That makes me sound more serious than I am, as I love to laugh and connect with new people and if honesty, intimacy, emotion, creativity, beauty and anti-beauty resonate with you then we are probably a creative match.  I am now looking for things that are more abstract, ethereal and creative than the photos that I have here, though we shall see what comes.  I have a new studio to work with close to the Pearl, prefer natural light and also just acquired some film and Polaroid cameras that I look forward to breaking in.  We can grab some coffee, say hello and talk over ideas.

At this point I prefer tfp.  I have shot models in the past who seemed to be more interested in the check than the work and that is not my vibe.  I understand that money helps to open doors, but If I am paying you the shoot will be more conventional, boringly provocative/sexual and I will shoot lots of instant photos that could be sold at a later date.  In both cases I shoot for myself and use a standard model release.  Mostly digital with some film and instant photos used as well.  If you are intrigued, send me something and let's talk about shooting the aforementioned amazing photographs.

I like these:

"Character, like a photograph, develops in darkness"
-Yousuf Karsh

"I just think it's important to be direct and honest with people about why you're photographing them and what you're doing. After all, you are taking some of their soul."
-Mary Ellen Mark
