Justin Hess (b. 1981) is a professional painter trained in the Classical Realist Tradition. His education has taken him from his hometown of Ventura California to the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. Justin has recently returned to San Francisco where he offers ongoing classes as well as workshops around the country. Hess has not only taught and lectured on painting, but also on the preparation of paints and canvasses using traditional materials and techniques.
His award winning work has been published in Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, International Artist Magazine, The Artists’ Magazine and Southwest Artist Magazine.
Justin is the author of “Controlling the Creative Process, A Painter’s Guide to Methods and Materials”, which offers step by step photographic demonstrations on the process of hand-making your own paint, canvases and frames using traditional techniques.
His fine art is represented by John Pence Gallery (San Francisco), Haynes Galleries (Tennessee), Sloane Merrill Gallery (Boston) and his paintings may be found in private collections in Australia, Europe, Scandinavia and the United Sates.
