Javier Perez-Mato, born in 1985 in Gran Canaria (Spain), first became interested in photography during the summer of 2001. During this time, he started shooting and developing his own photographs with a 35mm SLR. In the same year, he joined his local society of photography, which peaked his interest in studio photography and helped him gain many valuable skills. During the years to follow, his interest in photography grew exponentially as he began to shoot several events such as concerts, sporting events and film festivals. In the oncoming years he centered his focus on artistic studio, landscape and portrait photography.
He has conducted several lectures on photography at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), on the Canary Islands, as well as acted as a judge for several photography contests.
