phoTobin Photography is made up of Tobin J.W. Smith and his wife Sarah E.W. Smith (who have been married for near a decade).

We have an interest in creating compelling images that give one pause (frames that create thought over awe).

Shooting people, pets, products and places certainly lends to our variety of images; although breathing, conscious, self-aware beings are definitely our favorite.

Coming from a motion picture background, I (Tobin) often like to delve into motivation and thought with the subject when creating a form, in place of simply posing. Which isn’t to say we don’t sometimes just do that, I just feel the images are stronger when everyone is involved in the frame in some way.

We will and do shoot nude and partial nude, if there is an interesting purpose or provocative image to be created, but prefer not to shoot too much “fantasize about me” type photos.  Preferring the “air of mystery” frame over the “no mystery” frame.

Lingerie: yes
Bathing suit: no (unless there is some beautiful location like a beach or waterfall involved)

I would like to expand into some high-fashion and work with some motivated models (which is why we’ve joined MM)

I also have a real interest in natural/raw ecu shots.

We are willing to do TFP/TFCD with individuals who will bring something original and different to our portfolio. Please feel free to approach us with your ideas.
