when the occasion permits i prefer to shoot on location with only the available light, be it in a home, office, indoors, out, and or even the local no tell motel. rates are reasonable, and always open for discussion... always a huge discount for vets, and or dependents.
i am much more of a minimalist in my approach. much more art driven than commercial as my images reflect. that being said our images are more likely to be seen hung in a show, than that of the pages of a magazine.
i edit within my frame, as i do not post edit my images be them analog or digital. very little direction is given when shooting any model, as i feel the images become too contrived. i try to capture that "reflection of light" that nature intended us to see with just myself, camera and you.
i am near completion of setting up a wet lab, and looking forward to shooting film again, not to mention other formats such as ferrotypes, and ambrotypes... lets not forget instant film.
more images can be seen of course on my site that is linked, but FB is a great source too. Please be sure to "like"
my work should speak for itself... not where my images have hung or where they have been seen in print. that's just my take on it. i try to leave the pretentiousness out of all of this... after all we should be having fun in our craft.
Here is a little of what has what has been said of my work in recent past.
"Seeing yourself through Freeland's eyes is a phenomenal and delightful experience. He captures your face, body, expression, gesture and energy at moments when your guard is down. You're not posing. You're just you. You're not trying. Freeland exposes those glimpses of beauty that will surprise you. "Whoa, is that me?!" That's the hallmark of a gifted photographer."

"I confess that I’m no artist, much less a photographer, but I really love Israel’s work and I have ever since I first saw it ... His work feels intimate, yet approachable, and just a little bit imperfect in a way that makes it so I can’t look away."
