About Me

Thanks so much for stopping by.

My name is David and I’m an experienced artist, writer and freelance photographer based in Austin, Texas. Eons ago, I earned a BFA from the University of Texas concentrating in painting and sculpture, but photography has become a much more integral part of my artistic direction of late.

Over the years I’ve worked with a variety of artist models across the country as subjects for my drawings, paintings, and stone carvings. While my reason for joining MM is primarily as a resource to help drive the new direction I’ve found for my photography, I’m always eager to collaborate with like-minded creative types, who possess a desire to create great images and art.

My preference is shooting on location utilizing available natural light. I am fortunate to have access to a couple of large working ranches within a hundred miles of Austin, which offer beautiful landscape and structural settings. To keep the owners comfortable with my continued presence, I generally bring to these locations only those individuals with whom I’ve worked in the past. However, if you’re fearless when it comes to working around water, dogs, farm animals, and all the creepy crawling natural flora and fauna of Texas, who knows - your odds of getting an invitation just might improve.

The sample images contained in my profile are intended to be just that – samples. Depending on the project concept, your visage may not always be completely recognizable in the final product. This end-state creation could be an original photo of you with no post-processing whatsoever, or the pic may be cropped, collaged, blurred, sharpened, warped,  or any combination thereof. In other words, the art comes first. If that’s a problem, I’m not the guy you want to work with.

Although I occasionally receive requests for paid assignments and TFP to help individuals build their portfolios, it is not my primary objective here. Photography, like my drawing, painting or sculpture is one more creative medium for me. But that being said, don’t ever be afraid to ask. I will consider any inquiry if my schedule allows for it, and we can agree on a compelling/intriguing concept for the shoot.

I prefer to meet in advance of all projects to discuss the overall concept, share idea(s), and determine the location(s), and logistics for the shoot. Escorts are always welcome to join in these preliminary meetings as well as the location shoots, as long as they aren’t obtrusive once the work begins.
