As to models submitting rates, etc. that doesn't disturb me a bit. I generally submit a "Would if I could, but Can't so I won't," kind of response. Who knows? There may be an occasion when I will have a client backing something she'd be good for, so I want to leave that door open. Can't hurt, might help.
I will only shoot trade with models that are not being paid by a client of mine. There isn't any incentive for me to pay for photos I might not be making any money from. I really love photography though, so I offer my services on a trade basis for personal projects, modeling experience, exposure (via my own promotions), and new portfolio images.
Some models do not think that they "need" to trade because they have all of the port development that they need. Like I said, the only way a model gets paid by me is when a client hires me and pays my rate & the models rate. Other than that, I don't care how good she looks or how nude she gets, I only shoot TF.
Models decide to shoot with me based on their perception of the value of my work toward building or maintaining their portfolios.
A real Professional Photographer will be going to be taking money from you to take your Facebook photos, or will be using you in an advertising campaign, again that will be budgeted by their client, and in most cases will require the use an agency proven model for the job.
If a model insist on pay no matter what and i really want to work with her, then:
1) She doesn't get any images. She can buy some if she wants.
2) She will sign a release that gives me permission to pretty much do what I want with them. Transfer, sale, etc.
...Because otherwise, why would I be paying her?
"Models" who state:
* I don't do nudes.
* I don't do lingerie.
* I don't do swimsuit.
* I don't do fetish.
* I don't do provocative.
* I don't do erotic.
BUT they state: Paid Assignments Only.
Pay? But pay for what actually? I rather take my money and pay a model willing to do some actual, useful modeling that i can use if I'm paying. I have no problem paying a model. Especially if she knows what she is doing and has a look I am after. But again, all images will be mine and you will have to buy any image you may like if I pay you.
There are many incredible models out there in the city and the world.
Some are so beautiful, with portfolios so amazing, that I'm too intimidated to even approach them and yet they are willing to do a TFP if a photographer is of a high enough caliber.. I find that both notable and honorable.
PS... In regards to 'Friend Rerquests'. I only accept request (or send) to those I have had the pleasure of working with at one point or another. I don't see no reason to add people I don't know at all as a 'friend'. Thank you for understanding.
