Mayhem # 262757
The world is in color, life is in black and white.
I closed my Soho studio in NYC in 2013, after almost 40 years. I have retired from my commercial work to peruse my art. These are articles in the NY Times about the closing of my studio. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/05/arts/ … chive.html and http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/ … ds-a-home/ and http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2013/0 … APHER.html
I have moved to Miami Beach, Florida. My wife and I are building a new house and studio in South Miami. The completion date is somewhere off in 2016, much too long but then we will have my dream home, studio and darkroom when we are finished
While I am not creating my art (it needs a big camera and darkroom) I might be available to help out on some projects that need a digital shooter. You can never tell, run your interesting project by me and enroll me.
Photography has always fascinated me with its ability to make visible something that is not observable. It can be a moment in time. It can be something so small it doesn’t exist for me. It can be an historical event. It can be something I wouldn’t or shouldn’t look at and there it is in a picture and I am looking at it. In my art I try to explore these possibilities.
ABOUT MY ART
I create images of intimate details of your body that only a lover might see. That fleeting view is forever memorialized with film.
This body of work represents the refinement of my vision of the important details of the models I work with. The body parts, tattoos, piercing and scarifications are documentations of today. These images are the detailed examination of a very small part of the world around me.
I offer these images as a mirror and at the same time a window. The window shows you something you have never seen and the mirror allows you to give your meaning to the image because of who you are, where you come from and your personal experiences. I believe that there are universal truths about the images I create.
I document bodies with a 4”x5” camera on black and white film. I craft black and white, gelatin silver prints.
I DON'T SHOOT NUDES, BUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF TO WORK WITH ME.
You are female (a must at this point)
You have curves (muscles and pregnant count)
You have ink (curves and ink is a plus, no curves and ink will also work)
If you don’t think you have curves and no ink, try me anyway.
If you would like to work with me, contact me. It will be some time before we can work together but then we can stay in touch.
ABOUT FRIENDS REQUEST
I am interested in FRIENDS request from someone whose work I admire and respect. I would expect that to be mutual. Say something to me, PM or TAG when you send a FR.
I am not interested in FRIENDS request from people that are on a quest to accumulate “friends”. If it is about getting me as another number, don’t bother.
