My background is primarily in photographing ultimate frisbee, and I am now looking to expand into creative photography. My goal is to work with concepts and build stories & emotion through an image.
I am comfortable directing people, and my style is a combination of diplomacy and directness. I'm very outgoing ("bubbly", apparently :) - I like to have a good time and laugh during a photo shoot.
I have had great experiences with models who like to put forward their own ideas, especially in terms of the fashion/posing. The shoots are always so much fun, lots of idea-sharing and excitement! I absolutely adore fashion photography, and will do my best to get you (the model) some neat clothes / props / location for the shoot. I generally bring along a bunch of tear sheets from magazines to show you the concept or look I'm aiming for.
I have a number of ideas for shoots that I'd like to do, but I also love to hear other people's ideas. Some of my planned shoots
- creative makeup
- fashion gowns / fabric in the forest
- smoke dress
- Using motorcycles & speciality cars as props
- High fashion at contrasting locations: old, falling down barn, in fields, in the forest
I work on my photography part-time, so I often book 3 or more weeks in advance. My available spots for TF will go first to creative concepts that fit my portfolio and to models whose looks fit my concepts. I am also available for compensated shoots, largely to cover studio and equipment cost. Compensation could also be in kind - we could do an evening starting with a shoot for your portfolio, if you don't mind spending time afterwards while I test out various fashion lighting / posing.
I also organize small group meetups through the local Ottawa Photographer, Meetup Group. Model compensation for the meetups (TFP or paid) depends on the meetup theme and model's portfolio. Please send me a note if you are interested!
