UPDATE: I'VE GOT A RANT.
MODELS: This is not Myspace. Just because you strip down to your bra and your underwear and you get your friend to take pictures of you and people comment them saying that they're 'hot', or you think of an 'artsy' concept and get a person who has a nice camera to take your picture does not make you a model. You are not having photo shoots, and you are not climbing the ladder to your future, so please stop making ModelMayhem some kind of social networking site for attention-loving girls.
Fargo is a prime example of this. I give credit to girls who are trying to break into the industry and if you have a gift for this, I wish you the best of luck, but you have to be realistic about your potential and this city has become a melting pot for every Tom, Dick, and Harry who want to get in on the trend. It's frustrating for girls who take it very seriously and work hard at it.
That being said...
PHOTOGRAPHERS: Please contact me only if you are serious about what you do and the girls you work with. If you shoot just any random person off the street just for kicks and giggles, I'm sure you're a nice person, but I would rather not get involved with you professionally. While I know that I will never make it 'big time', I would like the things I do locally to be as professional as possible and that means trying to stick with photographers who do the same. Thank you. (:

Modeling to me isn't only about the pictures, it's about the entire concept. I've always loved being in front of a camera and the fact that I don't have a shy bone in my body seems to contribute to it, also. It's a goal to make it big in this industry, not because I want to be recognized as famous, but because I want to inspire people the way I've been inspired.
NOTE: I've categorized the things that I feel need to be covered on a MM profile to make your viewing experience a little less confusing and a lot less jumbled. Please check the piercings/tattoo section on my information on a regular basis if you plan to work with me more than once and if it's an issue, because they change consistently.
GOAL: My goal when it comes to modeling is to get involved with an independent clothing designer or a local boutique an do some advertising for them, be their face and represent their clothing. Part of my heart belongs in the fashion industry, so combining the two is important (if not vital) for me. Of course I'll do other things along the way, but I've come to terms with the fact that I can't 'make it big' because of my strange hair, my piercings, my tattoos and other various blemishes on my body. I'm all right with that; I was never the type that fit the mold. I'd like to think I'm just mold-able as I am. :]
TFCD/PAID SHOOTS: Because I consider myself to have a fair amount of experience, I do want to focus on paid shoots. I'm not saying that I refuse to do trade work, but I have to feel that the concept is extremely beneficial to me in order to work for free. I am
100% negotiable on rates so I urge you to contact me regardless of your idea so that we can discuss the shoot further.
PIERCINGS: Medusa (center of my upper lip), vertical labret (a bar through my bottom lip), navel.
TATTOOS: Nautical star on my shoulder blade, fairy on my foot, fairy on my back, custom piece on my upper right thigh, the word "Grant" on my inner left wrist in small pink writing.
HAIR: My hair is now completely white and a little longer than chin-length. I do warn you that I can't do a whole lot with it, but I'm more than happy to wear a wig to achieve a certain look.
TRAVEL: I am willing to travel short distances, and anywhere in the nation if travel costs are paid (or at least partially paid) and the work is legit. I do love to travel and I have a pretty flexible work schedule, so I don't mind going places that require plane trips, but they do have to be planned well in advance to make sure that I have sufficient funds for the trip.
NUDITY: No, I will not do nudity anymore. I've tested the waters with it and while I'm comfortable in my own skin enough to do it, I feel as though it won't benefit me the way I want it to. I'm also no longer interested in anything similar to something you'd find a Sports Illustrated magazine--i.e., bras and panties, bikinis, or cheesy, trashy pin-up stuff. Implied nudity is acceptable, and limits can be discussed further if shoots are planned.
MAKEUP: In every picture of mine, I've done my own makeup. I believe I'm talented in the area of makeup and don't need a makeup artist, however, if you have one that you can provide for a shoot, I'd still enjoy having my makeup done by someone else.
If you'd like me to do your makeup for a shoot or do the makeup for a model that you're shooting and you're from the area, I'd absolutely love to. The fee will be very minimal, so don't be afraid to inquire.
ESCORTS: There's always going to be some sort of an escort with me if I've never met you, and often times even if I have. It's almost always a female. They won't get in the way, but they're there for peace of mind.
I do not believe in photographers who say, 'Escorts are a distraction!' being legit. If you have that attitude, I ask you kindly to not contact me.
I would like to get more into runway projects. I understand that my height may pose a problem, but I have the attitude to make up for it and I feel that owning the catwalk is a gift I have.
I'm up for criticism, so feel free to leave me some. =]
CONCEPTS I'M AIMING TO USE IN SHOOTS:
--An animal rights shoot, something really edgy to portray my obsession in animal activism.
--A shoot in which I'm portraying Paris Hilton, walking one of my little dogs and perhaps holding a bunch of shopping bags or being followed by paparazzi. This is sort of a mockery shoot, but it would be something that's easy for me to do, based on my attitude and my wardrobe.
--Something that portrays the desire and strain of a person wanting to become a model. A bunch of ripped out/torn up magazine pictures of high-fashion models all around me, and me looking full of anguish, perhaps bent over the toilet (if we choose to take the stereotypical 'bulimia' route), or crouched in front of a mirror.
--I absolutely ADORE Camilla d'Errico.
If you don't yet know her work, go to her website,
www.camilladerrico.com. If you find an image that you think we can accomplish and you want to add something completely unique to your portfolio, I'd love to work with you. I may even travel for it, just because her work is something I feel quite passionately about.
--Water shoots. Preferably in a swimming pool, or somewhere in which I have a lot of space to move around and have clothing that will look good in water.
--A 'couple' shoot with my boyfriend. He currently doesn't model but would be willing to participate in a shoot so that I would have some 'unisex variety' to my profile. How we are dressed and what theme we'd be pursuing is up to the photographer, as we aren't picky.
If you're willing to take part in any of these shoots somehow, please let me know. Right now, I'm really trying to redo a lot of my portfolio and I've gotten a great start, but I want to keep the motivation going on my end and be shooting on a consistent basis.
If messaging over MM isn't your style, you can also e-mail me at my personal account: molly.bernstein@yahoo.com.
