I'm essentially a fine-art photographer and have been shooting for around 30 years. I studied studio strobe and fashion photography and traditional b+w photography/darkroom technique. Professionally I worked as a pre press graphic artist and copy photographer/wet lab darkroom. I also worked in a modest studio using Bowen's Monobloc strobes.
My undergraduate studies centered around a B.Sc. Specialization in biology.
I have been selected to exhibit in Florence Italy(which is still open to me), Barcelona, Spain, the UK and Cyprus. I participated by showing my work with the Gov't of Canada in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Now I spend all my time shooting in b+w film and more recently in digital. Currently I'm interested conceptually in female nude/life study work.
I much prefer working in black and white negative film because it stresses line and shape, and with women, that is what counts. Colour is a confusing element unless that is what the shot is set up for especially in lingerie with the new colours and styles now. But as art form, black and white film is special. My favorite photographer for nude work is Jean-Loup Sieff. My favorite classical photographer is Alfred Stieglitz.
One project I have is to photograph on b+w film a women wearing 60's couture dress, large fashion hat posing. It is a dream photograph of a 60's fashion shot of a woman in b+w dress, large fashion hat, posing that I saw many years ago and never saw again even after much searching. So, I want to shoot it myself. It is in the style of Penn, Klein and Strand. Love to have the right woman to make that happen. I have the fashion hat. Will buy the dress. Model needs black heels and hose.
