I am an amateur photographer trying to improve my craft. I discovered my love for photography first through admiration of others work, then through taking my own pictures with a point-and shoot.
A friend inspired me to purchase my first DSLR camera and to pursue photography more. I am in no way a professional, but little by little I feel I am getting better. I tend to practice with the different settings on my camera to achieve that perfect shot; more work needs to be done but again...we are all still learning something somewhere. I also use whatever light is provided; in other words, I usually just use the flash on my camera (both the internal and an external) for my pictures. I do have access to other lights though; I'm trying to develop my own look using just the basic tools.
I started this profile to provide exposure to my work, to stay in touch with favorite models/photographers, and to receive tips on how to make my pictures better. I do have friends in the industry (both photographers and models) that have given me recommendations for photographing better shots; I have taken those suggestions to heart and have applied them. Those same folks have stated that they have seen a marked improvement in my pictures because of that.
I showcase my work on my personal blog, as well as a Facebook page and a Flickr page. Just search either one for Otola Photography.
Unfortunately my day job (actually night) keeps me away from taking as many pictures as I would like to. It has also hindered me from taking many assignments, since I'm usually only available on the weekend. I achieve most of my practice at events that take place over the weekend. I also just take my camera to random (but picturesque) locations and just shoot for the hell of it. Some of my favorite and best pictures I've taken have come from doing this. I love trying my hand at photographing skylines and scenery, still life, and especially people. With people, some of my pictures are vanilla, while others are erotic or of an adult nature.
I also do not discriminate with said people. Everyone on this earth deserves to have a decent picture taken of them, no matter what creed, color, or lifestyle they chose. I'm an equal-opportunity photographer. SO...if you see an image that offends you, please move on. I hope everyone likes my work, and I welcome any critiques about it. Remember though; I'm an amateur, and I'm trying little by little to cut my teeth in the world of photography. I am sensitive about my work, so please be polite!
