About Me

I really dislike putting this at the beginning of my bio, and chances are it won't be seen by those whom it pertains to, but nonetheless:

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME ASKING ME TO HIRE YOU. In exchange, I won't ask you for any money, or other goods, in exchange for my services.

I fully understand the need to make a living and to find ways to advertise yourselves. However, if YOU approach ME with the intent of working for an exchange of money, then YOU may ask about MY rates. Otherwise, don't approach me with an attitide as though your needs are greater than mine. I can assure you that they are not.

Now, that I've come across as a hard-nosed, stick-in-the-mud who is difficult to get along with and is about as empathetic as a rock wall, I'll attempt to describe the truth about me and my photography.

My formal training is as an architect, but my experience and talents are broad and ever-expanding. I do my best to show the world the beauty within. And I continue to learn to understand more of it on a weekly, daily and moment by moment basis, dependent only on what the world wants to show me.

I prefer to use natural light in my photography as at least the main source of light. I also place an emphasis on capturing life more than creating an image. But that doesn't mean I shy away from theme shoots nor that I'm not filled with concepts that I'd like to create. I just prefer to work with scenes which are inspired by nature and which evoke a sort of emotional response even if it is just peace and harmony. However, I am not opposed to attempting any genre of art and photography, I have interest in dark themes as well, but they would most likely end up having a romantic flair to them when shot by me, as it's my nature to see beauty in everything.

Project-wise I tend to be selective of whom I will work with due to chronic fatigue and pain related illnesses. I prefer the unconventional model who does not fit into a perfect mold or fill somebody else's "ideal" beauty standard. Quite frankly, the fashion model standards are incredibly narrow and while I can see the beauty in those standards, I find them to be limited. At the risk of sounding like I hold a higher opinion of myself than I actually do, shooting a good looking photo of somebody who fits the fashion industry's model standards isn't a challenge. Shooting a bad looking photo of an industry standard model IS a challenge.  I would much rather learn how to shoot people whom I see in public and think how beautiful they are, and have them come across in photos as beautifully as I see them. The way I see them is as a work of art worthy of an art gallery, a magazine publication and as a model for a statue or doll. I aspire to learn the best angles, lighting, tips and tricks to ensure my subjects are shown off in as flattering ways as possible. And I don't mean through editing afterwords, except for things such as contrast, clarity, shadows, highlights, tones, etc. Give me pale, plain, curves, colorful, short, scarred, freak-of-nature or otherwise unusual and I'll show you superfluously beautiful with a superhero on the inside. Really, as long as you are able to be considerate of others, we'll get along great. If you are serious about wanting to work together and have fun doing so, I'd love to hear from you.

I am very laid back, down to earth, easy to get along with and quite good at connecting with my subject regardless of whether it's a 2 year old, a teenager, an insect or animal. I just won't work with drama queens, egomaniacs or anyone who puts others down.

And just to be clear, if I stop by your profile and drop a comment, tag or add you to a list it's because I respect/admire you/your work. I have absolutely no expectations in return. That's not to say I wouldn't absolutely LOVE working with you, receiving a friend request, and/or striking up a conversation. I just don't ever want anyone to feel obligated to respond. I'll leave that decision up to you with no pressure and the understanding that everybody has different feelings and understandings about contact on this site, we all live full (and hopefully fulfilling) lives and I fully respect if I don't receive a comment back.
