To anyone who might be interested in shooting with me:
I have a studio that I shoot out of, yet also shoot outdoors as well.
I take my work very seriously.
I studied 3 years in the areas of studio, fashion and figure photography before I even purchased anything for my studio.
I then researched and purchased only the best equipment: 2 Elinchron strobes and softboxes; 1 Mogen/Manfrotto tripod with ballhead; I Sekonic 358 light meter; 3 studio backdrops; along with numerous materials from velvets to satins to use as set decoration.
If someone chooses to shoot with me, I explain to them that I normally like to "colaborate" together with a model on putting a shoot together and not "dictate" to them what I want.
If they agree to shoot with me; we go over the particular styles and colors they think best suits them.
I normally have the model choose 3 outfits: one dressy, one casual, and one either swimsuit or lingerie to give them 3 very different looks. The model can substitute outfits depending on her taste and what she wants or needs for her portfolio.
The model then puts together a # of different outfits to choose from and we decide together what 3 outfits would work best for her.
If the model wants, I even put together files for each outfit with a # of images based on poses specifically geared toward each outfit. I ask her to pick a few from each group to practice, so when she comes into the studio she already is feeling confident about what she needs to do.
I then coordinate the setup for each outfit according to specific backdrops, lighting, and props or other essentials.
We do a 2 1/2 to 3 hour shoot. The model starts off with her poses she has practiced and then I allow her to what I call "free-style" where I let her choose her poses. I then add some posing direction myself, as well as giving her specific modeling and posing tips she can use for future shoots.
I usually take about a good 500 shots during the shoot.
I edit down to the top 100 solid shots, and then allow the model pick out her top 50 for Photoshopping.
When I am finished, she can come by and I download the 50 high resolution images to her flash drive; or I can send them to her via the internet if she would like.
As I said, I take my work very seriously, and thoroughly enjoy collaborating with a model who does so as well.
