"Since launching her label Tidal Cool Creations in 2012, Andrea Howell has quickly climbed the ranks and gained recognition for her design and tailoring skills. After her first runway event, Cleveland Fashion Week, Howell has gone on to participate in Michigan Fashion Week, Pittsburgh Fashion Week, and Kansas City Fashion Week, and shown in many private runway productions, including a celebrity event in New York City. Howell has collaborated with top-notch photographers and models throughout the country, and been published in fashion magazines in NYC, Chicago, and Europe. She is currently working on a Spring/Summer 14 Collection to be shown during New York Fashion Week.
Howell’s love of color and bold prints is evident throughout her designs. “I try and take you on a journey around this world with my clothing, whether its a rich silk brocade from Asia or a wax block print from Africa, we all need more color in our lives.” This is especially evident in her summer party dress collection, which combines bright cottons and funky prints in unexpected ways.
Andrea’s organic approach is largely due to her learning to sew at a young age. “Having mastered many of the sewing skills at a young age allows me to concentrate on the aesthetics of clothes rather than the construction,” Howell says of her artistic approach. She is comfortable with a wide variety of garments, from lingerie to hand sewn red carpet gowns, and enjoys the challenge of new techniques."
