Mayhem # 2780702
I recently retired from an international career and am now devoting more or less full time to photography. I’ve long been in thrall to the beautiful in all its forms and thus as a photographer pursue many different subjects from wildlife to landscapes to architecture to longtime exposures to abstract. But a primary fascination (and the reason that I am here on Model Mayhem) is for that highly evolved form of beauty: Woman. And it is the fleeting aspect of beauty that I find the most interesting challenge—to capture beauty and yet attest to its fugitive quality.
Those moments can be in the millisecond moment of a dancer, an emotion passing across the face; or the life force of animate nature, be it animal or plant, the patience of a heron, the predatory gaze of a cat or owl, the flower of womanhood… The fleeting moment can also entail changing light in a landscape, or as in long exposure photography, it can approach from the other side to express persistence in time, the energy flux of passing clouds, the flow of a stream, the endless churn of the oceans, the star tracks of the heavens… and yet it is still a moment in deep time, nothing is eternal…
I have been working with Model Mayhem models since June 2012, first in Europe, and now back in the US, having repatriated in October 2013. As a lover and student of dance I'm particularly interested in finding self-assured models with serious dance training (classical and/or modern) in their backgrounds. But I am interested in exploring most other genres of model photography as well: art nude, glamour, fashion, lingerie, fitness, editorial, and erotic (up to a point). With regards to the latter I am not interested in adult or graphically erotic photography, more of creating an air of erotic longing, or a “soft eroticism”.
I am happy to do TFP but I expect to pay for experienced models. I do not have an unlimited budget so I may try to negotiate on rates. I like a well-planned shoot but expect improvisation, often bring some clothing or adornments, typically book for 3+ hours, relish a collaborative process, have no problem with escorts, and will ALWAYS respect a model’s boundaries.
It’s been a wonderful experience, meeting so many interesting and creative models and other photographers alike, collaborating on images and developing my skill sets. I have a long ways to go but it’s been a great journey so far.
