I'm a NY based artist/sculptor/costume creator and jack of all trades in the realm of carnival and masquerades, also video and photo shoots. Anything you can imagine I can create, latex masks are a new addition to my costume shop, I work with a team of talented artists so larger than life projects are within reach as well.
My work is detailed, skillfully executed and custom tailored to each client.
In body painting I like to use the energy and essence of my models for inspiration.
Each body painting is guided by the living canvas as well as my imagination, it's the ultimate collaboration, and always both the artist and the model find themselves moved and surprised by the result.
My recent body painting work has been focused on the meditation on various definitions of strength in women derived from history and mythology that inspired me personally.
They are the first three photos posted on my page here, and are presented in the order they were created and conceived, and follow an elemental progression of thought.
Starting with the primitive, primal strength of essential truth symbolized by Medusa who’s origins go far beyond the Greek myth, Medusa is first mentioned in Africa as the ancient Goddess of Primal Truth , next going onto personal strength and grace in endurance and perseverance I find in the art of Frida Kahlo and ending with the strength it takes to devote and sacrifice all of your self to your ideals and true passions as did Joan of Arc in history.
Having started this possess of exploration I have since discovered the inner strength in myself as well and the incredible power art can have on those who value and price highly creativity and imagination. I have found that my models tend to connect their self image with the painting they now represent and doing so alters their self perception in a truly beautiful sense that seems to have a positive affect on them long after the the paint is washed off.
For me of course this adds a layer of meaning to my work that I love and am so proud to promote!
