Hello, If you live in Punta Gorda Florida you may know my work. I try to create paintings that look like black and white photos. My studio and gallery are in the Punta Gorda Artisans Atelier.
As an artist I like the action of painting, I like paint. I feel my time spent painting is the most productive part of my life,,,But I have a fascination with photography. Like everyone on MM, I like looking at Photos, old family photos in flea markets, historic photos, old science photography. The kind of photography that records snap shots of life. At the moment I seem to be trying to blend the action of painting with the image of photography...
I am looking for collaborators for some very large paintings. I work from photos but the paintings are full of information that is not in the photo..I guess one way to put is ,,,I'm like a human printer, I print photographs by hand...But I also know the subject,,,their personality, some life history or just how they feel that day. All this information affects what gets painted. ...Also the photo happens in the blink of an eye, But, it may take me a day a week or a month to make a painting..everything is constantly changing....
In the end I get something that looks sort of like a photo , But the shutter stays open for a week.
