Hi my name is Thea E. Howkins. In print advertising I’d like to be the face of many young women. My skin is naturally tan, my hair long and black, and my eyes are sparkling and brown. Many people in my life have told me that I am beautiful, but I think that an ad should promote more than beauty. It should promote diversity, health, sincerity and confidence. I think that the greater diversity in the appearance of girls and women in ordinary ads, the better. My goals are to expand the notion of what a clothing model can be, and to lend my image, not to high fashion, but to the fashions that ordinary women and girls want to see now. The advertising promoted by department and smaller specialty stores is the kind that reaches the largest number of buyers. It’s there that I would like to place my image—the healthy, vibrant, confident, honest and multicultural young woman. I was born in Peru but people view my ethnicity as having many different ethnic looks. Co-workers say I am fun to work with. I love posing before a camera and I love working with people. Modeling had been a goal of mine for many years.
