GBP Photographics

Hi my name is Graham Billing and welcome to my profile/folio page. Previously working as Savage Retina but now firmly established as GBP Photography. 

I find myself heavily influenced by conceptual fantasy artists Luis Royo and Boris Vellejo. Also, to name a few, renowned photographers such as Christophe Mourthe, Trevor Baker, Gilles Berquet, Bob Carlos Clarke, China Hamilton, David Lachapelle and Rankin.

I've been using a camera ever since I care to remember and over the years I've been undertaking commercial photography, from portraitures to weddings, products to fashion etc. I have been somewhat successful in published work, both editorial and promotional and I've also tutored in photography. I like to think of myself as a seasoned pro of the 'old school', (though you'll probably notice that my work is anything but!), working with traditional and modern methods in studio/location/outdoor digital photography. I have a personal preference for black and white, as mono images offer a stylised, artistic medium for surreal and contemporary images, though I am just as comfortable and competent when working in colour.

In more recent times, I felt that I needed to pursue my photographic interests in a different direction, not stereotypical of mainstream photography. So I have recently begun to work on a number of projects to build a stronger collection of  surreal and gritty images that feature the following alternative themes: Fashion, Steampunk, Gothic, Fantasy and Fetish. However, what you see in my folio is pretty much a work in progress.

I tend to think outside of the box so to speak and I don't necessarily follow contemporary rules! I tend to create images from my imagination or from various artistic genres that both influence and inspires me to create something authentic, original or different. To assist me with achieving this in post-production is my photoshop wiz Jade! Often working together in 'team-like' fashion to obtain the  very best result.
