Louis Toliver, Jr. was raised in Swartz, LA influenced by a strong sense of family built on spirituality, education, and work ethic. Leaving his hometown, Louis attended and graduated from Louisiana State University and National Student Exchange/University of Hawaii at Hilo. With aspirations in community, education, and filmmaking, he moved to Lafayette, LA, where he currently resides, to pursue graduate studies. He obtained his Masters in English/Creative Writing and hopes to complete his doctoral degree in English/Creative Writing by Spring 2014.
Traveling is a huge hobby of his therefore his writing is influenced by his global treks. Louis currently lives in Austin, Texas, where he hopes to build his writing career and finish graduate school to become an established and influential film director/writer in the USA. Then, begin a global career in New York City.
He was the 1st President of the Acadiana PRIDE Festival launched on March 27th-30th. He is also creator of community creative writing blog and reading series, Louisiana Words, supported by the festival.
