About Me

Designer Sara P. Boyd grew up in Jamestown, a small town in western NY known for its pretty lake & snowy winters. In her senior year of high school, Sara began making one-of-a-kind clothing that she sold at music festivals & stores. Within a few years, Sara knew that her tastes & expectations were changing. She decided that it was now or never to follow her dreams. So she dissolved her growing clothing business & Chicago became the chosen city to begin her education. Sara was accepted by The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), much to her mother and little brother’s dismay.

As an artist, Sara’s time at SAIC really helped to develop her feelings towards art & design, & how to play as an artist. To Sara it became important to remember how to play with art & how that play truly develops when it includes informed integrity. While studying at SAIC, Sara supported herself as a manager at a fabric store, which helped her use every precious moment to develop designs. Commuting back & forth from SAIC in Downtown Chicago to her work & home in the suburbs, Sara learned that sleep was a luxury while she got her degree. Sara faced these challenges fueled by her passion for art & earned her BA. During her last year at SAIC and the first years out of school she worked as an illustrator which grew into a graphic designer position. This experience, though peppered with some other hearty life lessons, taught Sara something she had become increasingly aware of: that working for herself & making what she wanted to make was her happiness. After fulfilling her life-long dream of going to art school, Sara re-evaluated her goals & came up with her next plan of action, which was starting the business she wanted to work for.

In order to help finance her dreams Sara works as a server in a pretty cool fine-dining restaurant. Experiencing a constant level of creativity & passion for food at the restaurant inspires Sara to keep going home every night and make her art for others. It is not only motivating, but also allows Sara to keep the lights on while people discover the name Sara P. Lovejoy in their local boutiques & in their closets.

Sara’s journey as an artist & a person has been filled with hard lessons but has left her open to the versatility of the world . Her roots are deep with an appreciation of nature from growing up on a beautiful lake, but Sara’s love of the city helps her to create clothes that move between many worlds. Sara juxtaposes the idea of her beautiful hometown against the excitement of the city.

Sara P. Boyd wants to make clothes that women love for how they make her look & feel. Her goal is to make fashionable, yet surprisingly comfortable clothes. Sara knows that woman will embrace her line because true confidence comes from feeling great in your clothes as they reflect who you are and what you want .
