Mayhem # 3228022
About MeI am Kenneth and I am an iStockPhoto.com photographer. I’m on MM to work as a team with select models to create beautiful images! I have a day job that keeps me busy but I do make time for photography. I shoot in my home studio mostly because that is where my lights, props, softboxes, computers and backdrops are. I do have a family and they are my first priority so I shoot only on weekends when I find willing models. Please send me a note if you are interested in working together.
What Style of Pictures Do I take?
I am all over the place when it comes to photography. I like macro photography and taking pictures of bugs. I like doing stock photography. I like taking boudoir photographs. I like water drop photography. It may seem like I’m unfocused (pun intended) but I’m not. I like to create and photography is a fun and easy way to do that.
Styles and techniques I need to work on are full length photos on seamless. Doing some rim lighting and edge lighting work. Working props into photos and building complete themed shoots. Joel Grimes does some amazing one light photo work with a beauty dish where the model stands against a wall and I’d like to master that technique. Search Google for “Joel Grimes beauty dish” and you will find LitUp Episode 3. This is a long video but kicks in around 4:22. These are all things I’d like to work on. Anyone willing to work with me will get some amazing pictures in return.
Prints and Files
I’m hoping we can trade your time for prints and files. The largest I’ve printed has been 3 feet by 5 feet. However, I think those are too big. Framing large pieces like that costs quite a bit of money. Hanging them on a wall is also rather difficult. I’ll provide 11x14's of the good images for free along with the edited file data.
I spend a lot of time editing images. The day of the shoot is the easy part. If we take 100 pictures and there are 10 that we like then that means I’ll spend one hour per image editing them on average. That means 10 hours of work. So if you want prints I will require your address because prints will be drop shipped to you.
My Shooting Process
If you have ideas or want a certain shot then let’s knock that out. Everything turns out better when we work as a team. It does take time to get comfortable and hit our stride and shoots last between 3-5 hours. I have no idea if that is long or not but from my past experience with doing the glamour/bedroom shoots that is the norm for me.
We will have fun and I'll be moving lights around, switching lenses, climbing up and down ladders and crawling around on the floor. I’ll be asking all about you. I push the shutter button but the big part of my job is to work with you and bring out your best. Let's face it, pushing the button is easy!
Tools of Choice
My tools include studio strobes, soft boxes umbrellas, octoboxes and various Nikon pieces. I do shoot tethered via Lightroom to a large 55 inch monitor TV that everyone can see so we can nail down the lighting. Having immediate results makes everything so easy. Once lighting is set we drop the tether cable and get to work.
I post process using the usual suspects; Lightroom, Photoshop, and some Nikon plugins. I do spend a considerable amount of time processing images and it can take several days to edit all of the good shots from a session.
My favorite photographers are those that are willing to explain what they do and why. This way I can build upon what those great people have already started. Zach Arias, Joel Grimes, and Michael Zelbel are great examples of these kinds of photographers. If you have a chance please google any of these photographers names and watch some of their tutorials. Joel Grimes is definitely my current favorite.
Great Models You Should Book
I admire certain photographers but without the models then the world would have lots of pictures of empty beds and chairs! I've worked with Charlie Kristene on MM (#169262) and she is lovely. Liz Ashley on MM (#26159) has a smashing portfolio and those images make me want to be a better photographer! Some of the body shots in my profile are of Annalee Belle(#1331039). Please read her portfolio and look at her images.
